If you have read some of my previous articles on the 4Networking Australia Business Community, it won’t take you long to figure out my love for it. I promote it, invite people, help assist the groups and when people find out “I don’t actually own any of it” they are very surprised and often say:
“Then Edward, why do you promote it so hard?”
There are a lot of different answers to why I am so engaged into this amazing Business Networking Community and one of the key reasons is certainly how it’s made my life better. I don’t mean this in a hippie “Spiritual / Hippie / Tree-Hugging Sense” either, I really do mean this in a tangible 6 Figure Business from scratch, a great stream of referrals coming my way, great friends and helping me become a key player in the Sydney Business Community.
I hear this comment all the time about 4Networking; people find that the actual members of 4Networking are very kind business people. I think that is a very fair comment in that people who are attracted to our groups are like that – they enjoy making money, have a great time and helping others make money. This may sound quite “Obvious”, however I don’t see it practiced that often in the Networking Scene. You get many that are just “Selling their Wares” or people who pretend to be your pal, just to take advantage of you.
Talking briefly to the negative – I had some people do that to me late last year. They really took advantage of me, just to get referrals or whatever sicko urges they had to dominate me or whatever. Even though they did get a very short-term “Win” out of me, it was “Lose” for them after that – without me saying a word, people found out about how they took advantage of me (and quite often I was hardly the only one they tried to nail).
Now talking to the positive which is more the intent of this article, the people at 4Networking Bella Vista were amazing today. It was our last event for 2014 and it was full of good times, great conversation, swapping Christmas Presents and YES – we did all talk business too and helped each other out commercially. It was great and what I needed. I spent quite a bit of time covering the Martin Place Siege yesterday and it was a draining experience – my 4Networking friends helped pick me up and get me back on track.
My advice, lessons and insights? My life isn’t better because “I am wonderful” or something lame like that. It’s better because I am surrounded by the right people. I got rid of the bad, got in the new and have been as generous as I can. If you know you are surrounded by the “Wrong People” – come join us at a meeting!
