One of the key terms I have heard in business (especially of late), is the term “Disruption” in business context. It basically means that status quo gets shaken up and is often seen in business when a seriously good innovation comes out.
One key innovation is that of Sharon Grant’s Sales Meetup. I remember seeing it start up a few years ago where Sharon would scratch to get 10 people in a room. These days, she breaks an easy 50 with it being quite a serious disruption to the Sydney entrepreneur community.
In terms of Sales and the Meetup Community, it’s the top group in Sydney for Sales Training that people love, prefer and emulate when starting their own events. Sharon has created a fun, winning experience with great content and delivers a great show every fortnight.
Gradually she has taken over the place and it’s great on many levels. She is the #1 player in the Meetup end of town and she is winning big; having especially disrupted the world around her.
My advice and thinking? Come up with great innovations in your business that shake up the world around you. If you do shake up things, it means you are onto something in terms of creating new value and having competition work to improve what they do.
