I spent a good decade and more in the Corporate Workforce far before I became an Entrepreneur and I had some great days for a few years. Even though my old career life had some very dark moments during my own multiple retrenchments, I learned some amazing skills and had some great times during the Pre-Global Financial Crisis. Awesome Pay, Great Moments and quite a bit of international travel!
As the Workforce changed, things tightened up and my good years were coming to an end – things were bad for me right before I got totally washed up.
For a while, I look at that experience as the ending. It was devastating and all that sob story – but really for me it was the beginning. It was the beginning of a new life that although took some pain getting into, it was the opportunity to help lots of people and help myself at the same time.
As time passes and I feel like I am really living a fulfilled life these days, it makes me think back to my old office days. At the time I liked some parts of it, but as I go in my life, I realize how much living my life in an office did quite suck a bit for sure. I used to work quite long hours and not counting sleeping – there were some times that I lived at work more than my home life.
As things changed for me I started working at Home and I totally loved it. It can take a bit getting used too, you need a strong sense of discipline, it can get a bit lonely at times – BUT it’s great being there, you can be with your pets all the time and it gives you a great sense of flexibility and good times.
I work out of the home at least 3 – 4 days per week seeing clients – but the time I get being at home with my pets is just awesome. Instead of living my life in the office for a pay check, your business becomes your new awesome life. If you have got out of the Corporate World and enjoy working from home – I hope you love it!
If you are still stuck at work and trying to get out – may I say keep up the good work, the entrepreneurial creativity and when you aren’t “Working for the Man” you can direct your energies to your own life and your own dreams. For me personally and also many of my friends, “Working from Home” is the best and with some intelligent work and focus you can be earning way more money than you ever did as a Corporate Employee.
My advice? If you are working on leaving the workforce, keep at it super hard! Once you get out, you will love it! And if you are like me and already working from home in the business of your dreams – well done! No better feeling.
