I have donated blood many times in my life (yes not as much lately as I should have) and I have found inadvertently how it has helped many people. My own better half Jude (who was a single mother till this “Persian Guy / Me” showed up) had a massive complication in the childbirth of now my own step-son.
She lost a lot of blood in the process and in the old days without any form of blood supply, it most likely would have been lethal to her. She did get “Some Blood” but not enough to help give her the recovery that she needed leaving her in a very “Touch & Go” status at the time.
In other simple words, if it wasn’t for blood donations, poor Jude would have been fragged by now and I will probably still be a sad single Persian Marketing Mentor. Putting aside the humour for the moment, this is actually quite serious in that regard and until there is a decent synthetic substitute (which I understand that is at least 10+ years off) the survival of many is dependent on donations.
Putting on my “Marketing Hat” for the moment I can understand why donating blood can be a daunting for some. It’s true you do get a bit of a big needle in you and it can hurt a little bit. That can be fearful for many and I have one answer to that respective for each gender:
– [For Men]: Suck it up Princess.
– [For Women]: Prove how much tougher you are than men.
So I am not a complete and lying hypocrite I have even booked into an upcoming drive if you read this post in time. You can contact the awesome Joel Curtis the Psychologist to book yourself in at jcurtis@liferesolutions.com.au with a group of us donating at the following session:
Australian Red Cross Blood Service Miranda:

Love your work and thank you! Here is to losing a “Pint of Blood” the right way. No silly werewolves with great abs, no guys that need tans and no girls that can’t act – just genuine charitable giving for the good old all.
