Hello Awesome People!
Being “Agile” in Small Business & Marketing I have learned is a very important and profitable trait to have. I have always been agile in what I am doing and I only really started using the term when I recently heard a high end Business Man & Accountant Michael Mekhitarian make reference to it in a meeting.
Michael has decades of experience and is a powerful insightful man who I have very high levels of respect for. He was discussing the importance of dealing with results and quickling responding in that:
– “Smart business owners are agile and can react fast to good or bad news going on around them”.
I was blown away by the intelligent simplicity of this statement and I have already “Ripped” off his statement and am proudly using it in my own thinking. One thing I can tell you that in my own business and many of my clients is how fast moving things can be.
Talking to the negative you can have a big client leave, staff quit on you or someone you have trusted for years turn on you in a very sad stack of events.
Talking to the positive, you can win a massive gig, way more clients and even crack a new highly profitable market.
Good or bad, you got to be really fast to respond – especially in big cities like Sydney I find! Sometimes in the same day, I have had bad things happen – only to have say a stack of way more positive things happen all at once. For me personally, one great example of “Being Agile” has been exactly that having large clients finish up and then all of a sudden instantly start. Even though I may be making way more money, it can be very disruptive and the pressure is on to keep up the with the demands.
I find this can require tough reflexes in being able to not only pump out the work, but just mentally keep up with the changes going on around you. Another great example of say Online Advertising such as Facebook or the like. You can have an advertisement that works one day and stops the next. You have to be fast and continually on the case.
My advice? Michael Mekhitarian is on the money in terms of being “Agile” in business. Be it good or bad stuff, be on the money and ready to react fast!
