Like one of my most effective Facebook Live Webinar Promo images – the more you can give away the better when it comes to Marketing!

If I think back to my own business over the years and how come things have gone so well for me (but it’s been hard though!) – I can most certainly attribute it to my generosity.

This has been in the form of really giving stuff away and I mean lots of it. I have had coffee chats with people and consulted to them for an hour at no charge solving some of their big challenges, ran Live Webinars that have giving powerful knowledge to people and also Free Marketing Events and the like (such as The Profitable Marketing Forum).

One thing that this logic has all nicely pointed back too in my own thinking (and for that of my clients) is that by being quite simply ‘Generous’ is that it not only proves you are a nice person, but it also gives clients an opportunity to try before you buy as well.

Of course there are commercial limits to what you can give away, however I have found that you can do some simple things that are either Automated, don’t take much of your time or will often help people and make you a profit so it’s all win / win in that regard.

For me, key ways of doing this have included Free Events, Live Webinars, Being Generous when Meeting People & my personal favourite – blogging (what you are reading now). I have found that the more you can give, the more you end up selling and the more people like you.

Also, as you are doing nice things for people and contributing to the business community too – you like yourself more. How cool is that? (This thinking also works incredibly well in Facebook Advertisements – if you try and sell something, it’s hard – if you give it away, awesome!).

My advice and thinking on this one? Think through how you can be as generous as possible within realistic business limitations. You may go as far as putting on free workshops or even just free tips through your Facebook & LinkedIn Community. The more acts of generosity you can conjurer up – the better! Even in a retail food sense – giving out free samples of food works a treat.
