For my clients with offices, salons, work sites, centres, laboratories, stadiums, convention centres or whatever the case may be; I am very sensitive to the ‘feel’ I get when I walk in the door.
Even though the more numbers people may think I have been leaning towards my hippie side too much, I am the first to say that the way people feel as they walk in the door is very much related to how they behave as customers.
Great businesses with that ‘feel of success’ are like that for a reason and when you get into their numbers and see how they do from my viewpoint; they usually have:
- Numbers 5 Star Reviews on Facebook
- Amazing customer loyalty
- Great staff that stick around
- Month to month figures of growth
- A very low marketing cost
The point from my end is the ‘very low’ marketing cost in that they get lots of clients and they don’t have to market too hard for them. As they do such amazing work, news of their success travels between people on the house.
The great news is that when they do start marketing, they often grow incredibly quickly in that clients come in and spend big, people may have already heard of them through word of mouth and marketing pushes them over the line and even better on say social media; they get great comments of support, people hit the “Love Reaction” and share it away.
What got me really thinking about this was visiting Elle Gerasimou’s Beauty & Skin Correction Salon “Heavenly Retreat Skin Correction & Beauty Clinic” (visit her Facebook page here).
Upon walking in there you feel a sense of peace, relaxation that got me in the zone very quickly. It was a good 39 degrees Celsius outside and it was just a peaceful experience. As I waited, I saw Elle come out with a customer hug her and thank her for all the great work she does.
That was pretty amazing I thought; your customers hug you and thank you for how awesome you are. Without any surprise she is a highly sought after salon, she has powerful five star reviews online and marketing a business like hers is just easy.
If a business is wonderful, marketing is very simple. You really just do it, people come in, never leave and the owner makes lots of money. If you speak to Elle for any length of time beyond 35 seconds, you will feel her passion for what she does far beyond the money she earns.
Impressive and I love her work.
My advice and thinking? Winning businesses clearly start with the passion from the owner and it’s critical this translates into a powerful customer experience. From the intangible feel they walk in the door to the very tangible results for the price they pay; it all matters and getting each little bit of detail right matters.
Elle is in the zone and love her work; her Salon Sans Souci (in South Sydney) is worth a great visit. As you walk in you will ‘feel’ what I mean.
Love your work, thank you for the read, keep up the great work Elle and stay awesome!
