I learned may things last night (note me in the top right reflection taking the photo).
I had an incredible Friday evening despite the torrents of rain that with a bit of wind makes your umbrella practically useless.
That’s it! It’s cold in Sydney. Whilst it isn’t as cold as obviously many other parts of the world, the fact that the winter is so hard and short makes it a difficult one. When it comes to events, some people like to stay in more (which ends up costing them).
As for me, I couldn’t care less about weather and getting out there is critical to me for many reasons. Last night (being my Friday) I visited one of our Order of Saint John Events with a ‘Fellowship’ gathering held in Parramatta, Sydney.
It was wonderful in that it had great people, wonderful food, I did drink *some* wine (but moderation applied) and learned some new ideas.
What impacted me about this event was the ideas there were presented. We had two fantastic speakers; one being from Parramatta Mission talking about the great work they do and also one from the City of Parramatta talking to what is happening in this part of the world.
During this time, I picked up some incredible points that I didn’t know. I learned some tragic points as to how domestic violence works and it’s link to poverty. Then to the positive; I learned about how the tallest building in NSW is going to be built in Parramatta / Western Sydney (with billions of dollars of world class architecture coming in).
I also met some incredible people including one fine entrepreneur who is heavily into eCommerce, learned some new ideas and was also able to connect some incredible people to each other to do business and charity.
My advice and thinking? When it comes to you ‘gradually’ winning, it comes to ‘gradually’ learning new things, ideas and meeting new incredible people.
For me success has been that. In my business I reflect back; sure there have been ‘watershed’ moments, but most of my wins have been those little ones day by day.
Of course I get very impatient and times, but I always remember how ‘overnight successes’ are often 10 years in the making. The more we keep our finger on the pulse as to what is happening in our town, the better placed we are to win big.
