Trump knows how to galvanize his base. Lots to learn about motivation from him!
I spoke to a wonderful client and human being today that I have lots of respect for. They are a very successful business owner who has gone through lots of challenges and upheaval in their life over the past few months (in almost every facet).
I most certainly have been there and even for the toughest of cookies; months and months of personal stress can take its tool leaving one tired and deflated.
My wonderful friend probably turned the corner a few weeks ago and they are actually ‘Galvanized’ and winning big.
I told them that they are ‘Galvanized’ and they certainly liked that and it triggered me to research the term and learn what it means when applied to Political Science.
I really learned the meaning of this term during the WONDERFUL & GLORIOUS election of President Donald Trump. It was a tough campaign and our finest hour working on him getting elected and you heard the term ‘Galvanize’ and ‘Galvanized’ used a lot in the US election.
According to wonderful Google, it means:
galvanize
shock or excite (someone) into taking action.
“the urgency of his voice galvanized them into action”
If I think through what Donald Trump was great at, he was at galvanizing his supporters when they got attacked by the establishment. One of my favourites was when Hillary Clinton labelled Trump supporters as being in the ‘Basket of Deplorables’.
Trump used this to his advantage to shock his supporters into knowing what the establishment thinks of them and energising them to action.
My advice and lessons? As you take damage or negativity, don’t feel down or pushed around. GALVANIZE yourself. Shock yourself into action and take the source of your pain and that head on.
When you rise to conquer negativity in front of you it feels good, gives ones a sense of purpose and it’s how you win big.
