Selfies are a wonder of the modern age.
I think they’re totally great, and I love taking them by myself at special times and when I meet incredible people where I want to capture that moment forever. When you’re an entrepreneur too, you spend lots of time by yourself and you are often left to your own devices. You must work out how to do things by yourself; hence the rise of the selfie.
From your lovable narcissist Edward, I’d love to give you some tips to take the ultimate selfie (be it for a photo or video):
- Have a decent phone: A great phone makes it better. The latest Samsung or Apple are just great.
- Don’t stare into the sun: I wear Sunglasses in that case. Squinting looks really bad.
- Get a nice background: Make sure you have a great interesting backdrop, there isn’t anything confidential or sensitive there.
- Look at the lens and NOT YOURSELF: If you look at your own image on the camera, your eyes will be off centre in the image. Look at the lens, so you will be looking at the camera.
- Be clean, healthy and presentable: Even if your covered in mud on an obstacle course, look healthy and great.
- Make it about the other person: Even if it’s you in it, make it about the other people in the selfie for the user.
- Be positive: Keep it all encouraging.
My advice and thinking? Practise some selfies and share them on Social Media. You will get cooler at them and it’s a great way to market yourself.
