Having my blog make the Novotel Global Facebook Page has been a massive honour. It’s amazing what can be achieved in a short amount of time with a generous heart and the support of awesome others!
I remember my blog “The Edward Files” when it was starting out about 7 months ago. I started posting every day before Christmas and kept up the consistent habit of success since really January 1st 2014. It only took me about 6 months to be considered a “Successful Blogger” per se and it has not only expanded my profile, but been an amazing tool of reflection, self development and keeping my knowledge in an “Online Diary”.
Just tonight (being 10:08PM Friday 11th July 2014 in Sydney, Australia) I found that my blog made the Novotel Global Facebook Page. As a page with 76,000+ likes and one top worldwide reputation. This certainly marks the day when my “Little Blog” probably isn’t really a little blog anymore and I am very happy and honoured by the experience).
In reflecting on this win, experience and how blogging has changed my life for the better – I can remember the at times arduous journey my poor blog as been through. When it first started out, some original posts got some criticism with several making quite hurtful and personal remarks to my friends and colleagues Grant & Karen Dempsey of 4Networking Australia. At one point I wanted to quit my blog, but I ignored them and kept going and going!
Over time, as the blog gained it’s own following and traction, I found that the reason it was succeeding was due to not any form of technical superiority or anything like that – but more because of how I was giving away such valuable information on the house to help people.
Be it to teaching street-level items of how to better pitch or telling people my own high-level online strategies, I felt that sure – I want to promote myself for my own benefit, but do it in such a way of helping first.
Today I feel that open acknowledgement of that process and it’s inspired me to guess what? Be more generous, blog more and give away more insights and knowledge.
Bringing this back to my opening heading, BEING GENEROUS IS AWESOME! And my love for the Novotel has only grown more. They are only the best Hotel Chain ever I must say!
