In a massive departure from Marketing in this blog post, I did some research today and figured out something amusing and very true about myself; I am actually a Preacher.
This realisation all started to manifest over the past 12 months as people asked me about my role as being a ‘Knight in the Order of Saint John’. It’s one of powerhouse hats that I wear and whenever people ask me, I have always tried to explain it in a modern sense.
My answer has been saying ‘Part Priest, Part Charity Worker, Part Political Activist’ which has been seemingly the best way I can describe the facets of the role. Even though I do a lot of preaching as a proud Christian, I always was slightly uncomfortable with saying I was ‘Part Priest’.
That came from the fact that it’s a very official type of role (that I don’t wish to incorrectly claim) and also that my views on Christianity diverge from many of the Priests I actually know. I run around talking about how awesome Donald Trump is and I haven’t many too many Priests that see eye to eye with me on this one.
So I did some research and found that Priest although is not a bad term to use; I actually have found that the word ‘Preacher’ seems to describe me very well. Yes, I am a Marketing Mentor (and a great one) and lately more and more of my conversations have been more around Faith, Spirituality, God, The Meaning of Life and dealing with life and death situations.
Yes, I am Preacher as part of my role as a Knight and I love it. What is actually quite cool is that I never bring it up. People bring it up and then ask me actually quite deep questions about religion, god and the problems we have in the world today.
Yes. I am claiming I am a Preacher. The guy who loves video games, shares memes on Donald Trump, drinks Wine at Chamber events and trolls on the Internet.
My advice and thinking? Jesus Rocks. Also, you tend to gravitate to roles that suit you without realising who you actually are.
So there you go. I became a Preacher without realising.
Love your work, thanks for learning more about me and stay awesome!
