At the Australian Franchise Support Alliance Event I have been very lucky to hear from Serge Infanti the Managing Director of the Foodco Group (including key Brands such as Muffin Break and Jamaica Blue).
Serge told his story about being an Italian Immigrant Boy and dealing with Racism (which I can relate too being a Persian Guy), his Corporate Career at IBM and also his growth of building Muffin Break and Jamaica Blue.
I have been at this event all day and have picked up quite a few “Awesome Business Gems” that have really personally related to me. One key point that really has is this great call that he made being “Always invest in Infrastructure”.
To hear this line from a high powered business leader like him made me feel a lot better about my own Sales & Marketing Work that I do. I think one reason why I am still around in business today (especially compared to the many Business Coaches and Marketing People I have seen come and go) is because of this point.
I often give this advice to plenty of my clients too who are startups and entrepreneurs is that you need “Great Infrastructure” to help you succeed in business. Serge was obviously talking on a larger level compared to someone like myself – but his words has a reassuring impact on me. I have spent heaps on infrasture on my business and at times I think “Ouch that bill hurt!”. But then the reality is that 2 years ago I was a nobody and I have had 10+ months of continuous growth in my business.
Taking Serge’s thinking and applying this on a Small Business Level, “Infrastructure” this can include:
– Decent Business Cards.
– Decent Tablet / Laptop Computer (Microsoft Surface 3 Pro does both!)
– Great Sales Material.
– A beautiful High Quality Website.
– A Social Media Program that rocks.
– Clothing and the image that supports what you do in maximum style.
The reality is that in business, it does COST MONEY to do that. However, the more infrastructure you buy, the stronger your business, the more sustainable you become and the more awesome profitable clients you get.
My advice as I have had just reinforced at the Australian Franchise Support Alliance Event? When it comes to your business invest generously. The more you put into your business, the stronger it becomes and the more you can drive it for awesome success.
I trust you enjoy this fine article and thank you for the read!
