Tonight, was yet another wonderful evening out on the wonderful business scene of Sydney. I was grateful to be attending the South Eastern Sydney Business Awards with the NSW BC team and it was great.
Like all Chamber events, they do an outstanding job always having a celebrity MC; this time being the powerhouse Sarah Harris from Channel 10. She hosts the Shark Tank and Studio 10, and I got to see her in action tonight run a great evening.
I watched her very closely and paid close attention and learned well from Sarah! These were my key points of what she did great:
- Great Voice: You can hear her from a mile away and she has a friendly, commanding voice that makes you want to take notice and listen.
- Top Style: A stylish, feminine, yet assertive character with strength. Came across just great.
- High Energy: This was a key one to me. She was up there, had a high energy that kept you engaged throughout the evening.
- Off the Wall / Funny Lines: She would talk about crazy stuff that made the evening entertaining. A great example was of her ‘throwing people’ off stage if they talk too long (nice).
- Fast paced: Sarah set a good tone to keep it moving.
- Friendly: You’d expect that, and she did it extremely well by bring people into the action.
- Strong body language: Well done on many levels. Top posture, great use of pointing and hand gestures. It worked!
My advice and thinking? If you want to get better at your public speaking and MC ability, model these top 7 traits from Sarah. They were great!
I love her work, thank you for the read friends and go Sarah Harris! You’re in the zone and an inspiration ????
