During the week I have had some great conversations with some like-minded people. With one of my colleagues we were talking about the importance of enjoying what you and in fact, LOVING what you do when it comes to your business.
Our conversation started actually with Life Coaches and Social Media People that we have seen over the years. A few of them can do really well, however most of them that we find aren’t “In Love” what they are doing. They are either say Coaching because they want to make “6 or 7 Figures” or people are doing Social Media because they feel they have the skills – but not necessarily because they love it. I find this quite an issue, because almost always they never do well when it comes to any passion in Marketing and Selling their own business.
Of the few Coaches and Social Media People (as examples) I have seen do amazingly well, they truly love what they are do. Sure, they are in business to make money and create a great life for themselves – but there is PASSION and LOVE.
When this comes to Sales & Marketing, this really shows in terms of their energy, conviction which ultimately means more Sales to them and better client satisfaction because they love their work! I was very lucky to spend time with the amazing Brad Burton who created 4Networking (some awesome business networking groups that helped me build my business). His love for his business was contagious and I learned a lot from him on this topic!
In looking at these examples, it got me really thinking about my business and that of many of the thousands I have worked with over the years. I love most of what I do and for the parts of my business I don’t, I am busy building automation and outsourcing that. I think that if you are about to go into your own Small Business or already are in business, it’s critical to think about what you like, what you do don’t like and tweaking what you do around that.
A common example, if you aren’t good at Accounting then get an Accountant! Computers driving you insane? Get an awesome IT Guy like my friend Edward Wright who does mind and so on. I have found that people who don’t do this can become very frustrated with their businesses which always leads to very average financial results.
Then talking about people who outsource / change what they don’t like, they almost always GET THE AWESOME RESULTS and I love it!
My advice? Think through your own situation and start tweaking, outsourcing and even change your business direction if you have too. You want a business and life you love – then Marketing and Selling will be a breeze! Thank you for the kind read from Edward Zia – Marketing Mentor who loves loving his business!
