Sam Sorscher is a powerhouse Manager based in New York. She got my postcard.
I am very lucky in life to know lots of great people, who win big all the time!
One of my new great pals is someone who I met just over the Christmas / New Years break at the end of the year. Meetup was taking applications for people to help the Global Community as “City Organisers” and one of my good friends invited me to apply for the role.
This involved lots of applications, discussions, interviews and more; where I was lucky to meet the powerhouse Samantha (Sam) Sorscher. She was the one who interviewed and selected me and in the first 60 seconds of speaking to her, you know she is a very smart New Yorker.
I help Sydney Meetup Organisers run their events and Sam is the Community Manager who I report too. She is very smart, and these are the top reasons which we can all learn from:
- High Perception: Sam doesn’t miss a beat when you are talking to her and will notice your mood in how you say something. Let’s say you are trying to sugar coat bad news, she will pick up on it and rightfully grill you.
- Great Questions: Sam knows how to ask the right questions to find out what is going on. Very important in Management and Leadership.
- Fast and to the Point: She gets lots done in as little time as possible. I love it.
My advice and thinking? We can all learn lots from people like Sam. She has taught me the importance of cutting to the chase and getting projects done fast (faster the better).
