Hello Awesome People!
I was very lucky to have a conversation with a great colleague of mine, recently about the very topic of so called “People in the Know”, trying to pull them off their own very Profitable plan and Direction.
Basically, they are tough Operators and they know exactly what they need to do in their business to get Attention, Add Value and sign up new Clients. They had a bunch of “Experts” come in, disrespect their great Ideas and they’d come up with another idea that would not even sell water to someone who just ate a whole packet of Premium Potato Chips.
My colleague approached me to confirm they were on the right track and I certainly did! Their original idea was great and the people giving them advice really didn’t have the credibility to do that in any reasonable style.
This potentially Dangerous advice inspired and reminded me of the Importance of “Sticking to Your Guns” in Business. As we exchanged Ideas, it reminded me of many of my past Experiences. I have lost count of the multiple times in my Business where I have ignored my own “Common Sense” because someone gave me advice that I knew was wrong – which I decided to follow to my own Detriment.
It’s Critical to hire the right people and get the best Quality advice and equally speaking – it’s Important to “Test” that advice to ensure you are heading the right direction. My friend was in that situation – they “Felt it was wrong” and I helped them Confirm it to Preserve their Success and help them stay on Track.
If you haven’t already, I can promise that the longer you are in Business – the more external advice you will receive. Some will be Awesome, some will “Feel Right” and some might not, and can really harm your business.
My Advice & Thinking? Remember that people can say “Whatever they Want” however the Buck Stops with You! If their advice doesn’t work out, you are the one that loses out. Equally speaking, you can get a “Stroke of Genius” too from someone that helps you Kick Butt. Either Way – be very Careful to Accept the Risks & Rewards you reap from any external advice.
